    Deriving Event Logs from Legacy Software Systems

    Abstract. The modernization of legacy software systems is one of the key challenges in software industry, which requires comprehensive system analysis. In this context, process mining has proven to be useful for understanding the (business) processes implemented by the legacy software system. However, process mining algorithms are highly dependent on both the quality and existence of suitable event logs. In many scenarios, existing software systems (e.g., legacy applications) do not leverage process engines capable of producing such high-quality event logs, which hampers the application of process mining algorithms. Deriving suitable event log data from legacy software systems, therefore, constitutes a relevant task that fosters data-driven analysis approaches, including process mining, data-based process documentation, and process-centric software migration. This paper presents an approach for deriving event logs from legacy software systems by combining knowledge from source code and corresponding database operations. The goal is to identify relevant business objects as well as to document user and software interactions with them in an event log suitable for process mining

    Bisphenol A and its analogues: A comprehensive review to identify and prioritize effect biomarkers for human biomonitoring

    Human biomonitoring (HBM) studies have demonstrated widespread and daily exposure to bisphenol A (BPA). Moreover, BPA structural analogues (e.g. BPS, BPF, BPAF), used as BPA replacements, are being increasingly detected in human biological matrices. BPA and some of its analogues are classified as endocrine disruptors suspected of contributing to adverse health outcomes such as altered reproduction and neurodevelopment, obesity, and metabolic disorders among other developmental and chronic impairments. One of the aims of the H2020 European Human Biomonitoring Initiative (HBM4EU) is the implementation of effect biomarkers at large scales in future HBM studies in a systematic and standardized way, in order to complement exposure data with mechanistically-based biomarkers of early adverse effects. This review aimed to identify and prioritize existing biomarkers of effect for BPA, as well as to provide relevant mechanistic and adverse outcome pathway (AOP) information in order to cover knowledge gaps and better interpret effect biomarker data. A comprehensive literature search was performed in PubMed to identify all the epidemiologic studies published in the last 10 years addressing the potential relationship between bisphenols exposure and alterations in biological parameters. A total of 5716 references were screened, out of which, 119 full-text articles were analyzed and tabulated in detail. This work provides first an overview of all epigenetics, gene transcription, oxidative stress, reproductive, glucocorticoid and thyroid hormones, metabolic and allergy/immune biomarkers previously studied. Then, promising effect biomarkers related to altered neurodevelopmental and reproductive outcomes including brainderived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), kisspeptin (KiSS), and gene expression of nuclear receptors are prioritized, providing mechanistic insights based on in vitro, animal studies and AOP information. Finally, the potential of omics technologies for biomarker discovery and its implications for risk assessment are discussed.     The genomics of heart failure: design and rationale of the HERMES consortium

    Aims: The HERMES (HEart failure Molecular Epidemiology for Therapeutic targetS) consortium aims to identify the genomic and molecular basis of heart failure. Methods and results: The consortium currently includes 51 studies from 11 countries, including 68 157 heart failure cases and 949 888 controls, with data on heart failure events and prognosis. All studies collected biological samples and performed genome‐wide genotyping of common genetic variants. The enrolment of subjects into participating studies ranged from 1948 to the present day, and the median follow‐up following heart failure diagnosis ranged from 2 to 116 months. Forty‐nine of 51 individual studies enrolled participants of both sexes; in these studies, participants with heart failure were predominantly male (34–90%). The mean age at diagnosis or ascertainment across all studies ranged from 54 to 84 years. Based on the aggregate sample, we estimated 80% power to genetic variant associations with risk of heart failure with an odds ratio of ≥1.10 for common variants (allele frequency ≥ 0.05) and ≥1.20 for low‐frequency variants (allele frequency 0.01–0.05) at P < 5 × 10−8 under an additive genetic model. Conclusions: HERMES is a global collaboration aiming to (i) identify the genetic determinants of heart failure; (ii) generate insights into the causal pathways leading to heart failure and enable genetic approaches to target prioritization; and (iii) develop genomic tools for disease stratification and risk prediction

    La decisión de dar a la presente obra un título que considera el siglo XIX americano como un tiempo de letras obedece al reconocimiento de la estrecha relación que las dimensiones de la historia y la literatura evidenciaron en esa época, tanto en los procesos de emancipación de un viejo orden y construcción de uno nuevo como el ejercicio de pensarlos y nombrarlos. Para toda América se abría nada más y nada menos que la oportunidad de reescribir la historia. En este volumen coordinado por Liliana Weinberg y Rodrigo García de la Sienra participan veintitrés investigadores de distintos ámbitos académicos, especialistas en el campo de los estudios históricos, literarios y artísticos del siglo XIX, cuyos aportes han sido agrupados en tres grandes secciones: "La historiografía literaria del siglo XIX revisitada", "Escribir la historia" y "Nuevos caminos hacia la historia literaria del siglo XIX".
